What are the options? If Man Citeh win champs ( or Chelsea) and Man Utd win the Europa and both/three all in the top 4 are there any options that lead to a 5th place finish open to the champs league? We will finish 6th and Liverpool 5th (Man united- game abandoned and they get will awarded 3 points without playing them). They always fuck us, 1986 killed Juventus fans when we finished 3rd and no European football for any Englidh teams. 2006 with that Scaloni moment at the FA Cup final. Tell me it. How do the scousers fuck us up this year?

Were the two Manchester clubs to win the Champions and Europa leagues and finish top 4, other countries would get extra places in next season's Champions League, previously allocated to the Champion and Europa League winners.
f the Champions League title holders qualify for the group stage via their domestic league, the following changes to the access list will be made:
The champions of association 11 (Turkey) enter the group stage instead of the play-off round.
The champions of association 13 (Denmark) enter the play-off round instead of the third qualifying round.
The champions of association 15 (Czech Republic) enter the third qualifying round instead of the second qualifying round.
The champions of associations 18 (Greece) and 19 (Serbia) enter the second qualifying round instead of the first qualifying round.
If the Europa League title holders qualify for the group stage via their domestic league, the following changes to the access list will be made:
The third-placed team of association 5 (France) enter the group stage instead of the third qualifying round.
The runners-up of associations 10 (Netherlands) and 11 (Turkey) enter the third qualifying round instead of the second qualifying round.
If the Champions League and/or Europa League title holders qualify for the qualifying rounds via their domestic league, their spot in the qualifying rounds is vacated, and teams of the highest-ranked associations in earlier rounds will be promoted accordingly.
An association may have a maximum of five teams in the Champions League. Therefore, if both the Champions League and Europa League title holders come from the same top-four association and finish outside of the top four of their domestic league, the fourth-placed team of the league will not compete in the Champions League and will instead compete in the Europa League.

And whilst extremely unlikely, it is still mathematically possible, for Man United to win the Europa League and finish outside the top 4. With their superior goal difference, they only need 3 points from 5 games, to finish top 4.
Which would reduce Europa League places, by one team.
Also with two rounds of Premier League fixtures after the FA cup final this year, we won't know who we want to win it (probably), re impact on finishing inside/outside top 4 and European qualification places, from the league.
Unlike 2016, when we knew a Man United victory in the FA cup final, would give us Europa League qualification (albeit short lived).

Difficult to believe this debate is taking place.
One year ago I was pissed off that Moyes was back, and failing to understand why Haller and Anderson were so useless.
It would be devastating to miss the EL; we actually deserve at least the EL, and I'm losing my scepticism about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

I have seen mistakes as well hence my slight hedging. I supposed someone could wade through the actual UEFA documents. I decided to do it with FIFA's when my national side had the most weirdly complex World Cup qualifying system (before COVID forced the confederation to simplify it )

IronsofCanada - whilst not taking anything in the media as gospel (the BBC article on European football says we could have 8 or 9 teams next season, which is plain wrong), this is a cut and paste from an ESPN article on the Europa Conference:-
As the competition is aimed at giving smaller countries more European football, only five clubs will come from the top European leagues -- all of which will enter in the final qualifying round. The lowest-ranked team in each of these national domestic leagues will switch from the Europa League to the Conference League.

One thing I have not seen a definitive word on (if you have one that would be great) is
: if Chelsea wins and are outside the top four does their Champions League spot take the place of the an Europa League spot or the Conference one.

Correct.
What I said earlier:
"Any given league is permitted a maximum of five teams to enter the Champions League in any given season."
Is also correct.
If Chelsea win the CL and finish outside the top 4 we just lose one of the Europa spots.

Top 4 guaranteed Champions League
5th & 6th guaranteed Europa League
7th guaranteed Conference League
I'm not sure whether Chelsea winning the Champions League and coming 5th meaning 6th & 7th Europa and 8th Conference League.
No it doesn't.
If Chelsea win Champions League and finish outside top 4, there will be the top 4 in Champions League, plus Chelsea. Total 5 in CL.
We are allowed 7 teams in Europe. So there will be one Europa League place, one Europa Conference place.
If the FA cup winners finish outside the top 4, they will get Europa League and 5th place in the league gets Europa Conference.
7th is the lowest that a league place can possibly get European football, if FA cup winners finish in top 4 (and the league cup, as has already happened) and Chelsea don't win the CL. 8th in the league gets nothing.

Actually, I just read this on BBC:
"How many English teams qualify for Europe?
Seven Premier League teams qualify for Europe - but in theory, it could be eight or nine if English teams win one or both European tournaments without qualifying for Europe through domestic football.
But if an English team win a European tournament - and qualify for one through domestic football - it does not free up a European space for another English team.
It could also mean instead of four Champions League teams, two in the Europa League and one in the Europa Conference League, the number of teams in each of those tournaments could change."

However, if we beat Everton on Sunday, then we are almost certain of some kind of European football next season.
